EXPRESSO STILL HOT TO GO! 
“SOME LIKE THEIR COFFEE HOT!” HERALDED THE ARRIVAL OF AN EXCITING
NEW EXTASY SON IN SPRING 2007 WHEN THE FIRST DAUGHTERS OF MAIRE
EX-PRESSO CALVED DOWN AND ENTERED PRODUCTION.

These capacious moderate sized first-crop daughters were pumping out
large volumes of protein rich milk in an extremely efficient and fast manner,
with strong components, a high protein: fat ratio, and very good scores
for longevity, fertility and somatic cells.
Ex Presso had arrived, immediately
launching himself on to the charts as a high dual index super production sire.
Today, two seasons later, Ex Presso is still ‘hot to go’ and a CRV AmBreed
production super sire, remaining our highest Holstein-Friesian sire for BW
with BW 251/87% reliability, and NZMI 228. And as data from his subsequent
3 and 4 yr-old daughter lactations come to hand Ex Presso’s status is climbing
even further as a sire of efficient high producing cows.

Ex Presso’s production proof is presently derived from 87 daughters in 38
herds, with his second crop not expected until spring 2011. His production
breeding values hold strong with an impressive protein BV 44kg, milk 1198
litres, fat 33kg, solid components protein 3.6% and fat 4.3%, and a very
favourable protein: fat ratio 0.84. He continues to have very good values for
longevity (BV 298), somatic cells (BV -0.18), and fertility (BV 0.6), the latter
experiencing a significant lift this season as more daughter information
has come hand. In the dairy shed the Ex Pressos exhibit above average
milking speed and farmer opinion, despite being slightly below average for
adaptability and temperament.
The Ex Pressos are average in size, with very good capacity, correct legs and
rumps. Udders, however, are reasonably capacious and should be protected
for support and attachments, although teat placement is good.

SIGNIFICANT COW FAMILY
Ex Presso arises from the 670 head Holstein-Friesian ‘Maire’ stud of Craig and
Chantelle Rowe, Palmerston North. Sired by production super sire Whinlea
Magley Extasy, Ex Presso traces back to feature cow SRC Lakeside Carl
Pauline VG87 who exhibited tremendous milk production, longevity and
phenomenal capacity. Pauline’s NLD Delta Gerris daughter Gloria, dam of Ex
Presso, continues to produce strongly at 9 yrs, exhibiting exceptionally low
somatic cells, outstanding capacity, body condition, longevity and fertility.
These traits transmit strongly through to her son Ex Presso.
