NO OTHER SIRE EXHIBITS THE POWER OF ‘REPROOF’ LIKE FIRENZE!
CRV AmBreed’s highest rated Holstein-Friesian sire for the past four
seasons, his progeny exhibit stunning all-round production, farmer
likeability, longevity and conformation. But with second crop daughters
now producing Firenze’s story is far from over.
It’s a rare occurrence for a sire’s figures to improve on second crop. However
in ferocious style, Firenze has done just that, catching the attention of many
who, until now, may have been sitting on the fence of the Firenze fan-club.
On reproof Firenze has held ground on all Breeding Values plus improving
on several, some in dramatic fashion! Figures confirm him as an exceptional
all-rounder and dual index bull, with New Zealand Merit Index (NZMI) 291
and Breeding Worth (BW) 230/98% from 1168 daughters milking in 273
herds, and 280 daughters TOP. Moderate milk production is boosted by
strong components protein 3.8% and fat 4.3% giving him weighty milksolid
BVs, in particular protein BV 40.
In the dairy his daughters are exceptional in every way, with excellent shed
traits and farmer scores (OO BV 0.73). Daughter longevity, fertility, and body
condition BVs also place him amongst CRV AmBreed’s best. His SCC BV, a
once concerning ‘blip’ on his profile, now sits a little more comfortably at 0.47
on reproof.
Daughters display impressive uniformity being predominantly blacker,
moderate sized cattle with great capacity (BV 0.67), correct rumps and
superb udders. Firenze’s second-crop udder scores incredibly advanced
two-fold (udder overall BV 1.12), with exceptional snugness, ligament,
and rear and fore udder attachments. It now becomes clear why this bull
epitomizes CRV’s ‘balanced breeding objective’ and offers so much to
farmers, no matter what their farming system.
A PERFECT BLEND
Bred by Philip, Heather and Geoffrey Wilson, on their Telesis stud in Otago,
Firenze represents a perfect albeit interesting blend of New Zealand and
overseas genetics. His sire Hibi Fatal Euon (AmBreed) is a son of French bull
Fatal, from a NZ bred Celsius cow. Firenze’s dam ‘Fame’ is sired by Rolfes
Elliot, whilst his maternal grand dam brings another overseas drop to the
mix with her Dutch sire Aldo. ‘Fame’ is a moderate sized cow with serious
capacity and production ‘oomph’ at Telesis, and represents a cow family
renowned for tremendous temperament.
