Planning to Succeed – the Proven Team Approach![]() So what type of farmer are you?No two farms in NZ are the same, and no two farmer’s farm in exactly the same way, so it makes sense to target the type of cow you want, and use your breeding plan to get you there faster. The pressures on farming systems through NZ vary depending on climate, finances and your goals in life. The type of cow you need to handle high-output production is quite different to the low-management input animal highly desired by large operations.
Our Team ConceptThat’s why we have developed our Team concept – designed to help you get to your goals faster and with the minimum of fuss. We have developed a selection of both InSire Genomically Selected Young Sires, and Proven Sire Teams to cover a range of outcomes important in dairy farming in NZ today. Using a team approach as examples of how a breeding strategy can help solve cow problems or achieve target objectives, will show you how you can easily tap into the full genetic potential of sires available to you today and into the future. It couldn’t be easier! The Teams are based on a variety of important key breeding strategies: · Performance – for systems enabling cows to have intakes of high quality feed and therefore the environment to produce >450kgMS/cow · Efficiency – for pasture dominated diets producing up to 400kgMS/cow · A2A2 – A2 semen options from top sires that will help you capture this valuable niche market with a specialist milk product · Short Gestation – get your herd fertility back on track and give you more days in milk and in the vat · Outcross – a high-quality outcross option that mitigates the inbreeding problems of both · Easy-Care (Friesian only) – ideal for large enterprises with limits on labour resources or farmers wanting to breed highly fertile cows that look after themselves · Build’em Bigger (Jersey only) - breed some size back into your Individual bulls can be changed within the teams to customise what we offer to suit your preferences. Many of our farmers find the choice offered by Teams make a planned approach to breeding a simple and essential part of their farming operation. One team of bulls to serve the entire country no longer makes sense. Planning your breeding means you can get away from relying on a lucky-dip of average genetics.
