Herd Services is a vital tool for on farm decision-making and is an essential part of every dairy farmer’s management system.

 

As technology develops, so too will the level of information that is available to assist with assessing milk characteristics and cow’s production and how to tailor your mating programme to increase profitability.

 

To make life as stress-free as possible we have two areas to increase your profitability. These are Herd Testing and Herd Recording. When used together, our clients tell us that it is the best they have experienced.

Our Herd testing service is driven by dedicated, experienced technicians safeguarding the accuracy of your reports.

 

 

 

This gives you peace of mind, saves you time and assures you of the credibility of your herds data. Our technicians will set-up meters, record volumes and take samples as well as assist in the clean-up operation. You won’t be left to make it work on your own when herd testing with us.

With such integrity in information, which is presented in colour, identification of high producing cows for breeding, mastitic or low-producing cows for treatment or culling makes herd management decisions even easier.

 

If there is a specific test you require, such as Somatic Cell Count, this can be achieved at a single test and we will communicate results to your Vet if desired.

There is no need for double testing.

We choose to have all milk samples tested independently giving a reliable creditable service. There are no worries of delays in getting accurate timely results. We also support industry health programs that continue to strengthen the herd testing service offered.

There are two options when recording with us; paperwork or electronic. All clients receive lab reports which include lactose results and highlight high cell count cows in red.

The full test report suite is also in colour with cows producing 25% above herd average in green and those producing 25% below average in red – high cell counts greater than 500,000 are also once again printed red.

The colour printed reports are great when you are running short of time. Highlighting cows requiring attention or cows that are excelling makes report reading that much quicker.

To take control of your electronic records, We use MISTRO farm. In Australia it is regarded as the leading farm dairy management software available.
 

What makes MISTRO different is that it uses what is known as a file swapping system – not having to sit on-line. We have deliberately stayed away from on-line dairy management software because our clients have told us that throughout New Zealand the internet connections are not stable enough to successfully transfer data. Not to mention the time spent trying to pass information.

 

When recording with us, minimizing our client’s workload is the main objective. For example, using MISTRO farm software successfully converts your paperwork to electronic in a safe and secure process. Making the whole recording process so convenient – it becomes second nature. This also allows for a comprehensive range of reports designed by you as you want them. Standard options are available to get you started.

MISTRO Farm is computer software designed specifically for dairy farmers providing access to farm, herd and cow management information.

 

However what is even more impressive is its simplicity of use. It is not cluttered with options that will never be used and the user only needs to learn a couple of menus and screens to get significant results from the screen.

 

Unlike many other packages, MISTRO farm uploads all cow information required at the herd test centre via a file swap system. This means all mating, health and pedigree information on the farmers system can be uploaded to the herd test centre.

 

To meet the needs of the modern dairy farmer, MISTRO Farm maintains a complete stock register and enables all herd recording, mating and health information to be stored. This information can be used by generating action lists or viewing data for individual animals.

 

Production as well as all aspects of feed and paddock management, including supplementary feeding and fertilizer applications can be recorded. Graphs of herd test results are also provided. Other features of MISTRO Farm include the diary, in which management notes can be recorded and tracked down at a later date.

 

MISTRO Farm also provides for recording details of water sources and irrigations with measurements of rainfall and evaporation which can assist in timing irrigations.
