BILL MONTGOMERIE awarded INDUSTRY HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP
In recognition of Bill Montgomerie’s invaluable input over the years to the Dairy Industry and his promotion of the Jersey breed, Jersey New Zealand recognised Bill at a Special Award Presentation on Wednesday 23rd November. By virtue of council and on behalf of the Jersey New Zealand membership, Bill was presented with an Industry Honorary Life Membership of the Association.
Bill had spent the last ten years as the Animal Evaluation Unit Manger and also in the role of Dairy NZ AEL Manager where he was well-known both nationally and internationally and considered an expert in the area of Animal Evaluation. In February 2011, Bill was an integral part of the 19th World Jersey Conference hosted in New Zealand. As one of the guest speakers he delivered a well-received presentation about Milk Production and Jerseys, which has subsequently been used by other Jersey Associations around the world in various education programmes. Jersey New Zealand President, Brian Carter acknowledged Bill’s involvement within the herd improvement area in New Zealand over the last 15 years. He acknowledged the drive shown by Bill in educating a wider audience has had lasting effects on various sectors of the Industry.
