Inspector – Help yourself while helping Muscular DystrophyOkura TGM Inspector launched this year with impressive credentials. Bred from Okura stock and owned by Nelson Jersey breeders Warren and Louise Berry, Inspector is a dual index sire that builds on the strong points of his famous sire, Tawa Grove Maunga. He adds his own strengths with great capacity and production, making his daughters popular with farmers because of their even temperament. The best of our Maunga sons, Inspector is fulfilling the promise shown early in the season. Warren and Louise are taking advantage of the high profile of Inspector to help raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Their 6 year old son Liam suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most common form of the disease affecting 1 in 3,500 boys born in NZ. Characterised by progressive difficulty in walking and performing everyday tasks, this debilitating disorder considerably shortens life spans. And there is no cure. The Muscular Dystrophy Association works hard providing support for families but struggles financially despite campaigns such as their annual “Bow Tie” appeal. Warren and Louise hope their bull Inspector will change that, as do we. The Berrys are donating $1 per straw sold from their royalties to the MDA, which should provide much needed support to the organisation to make a difference. “This is a very generous offer by the Berry’s”, says CRV AmBreeds Marketing Manager Peter Berney. “I would encourage dairy farmers to support one of their own – when you look at Inspector’s results over the season it is a real win-win for everyone.” |
