Manzello awarded prestigious JT Thwaites Sire of the Season award
Pukeroa TGM Manzello was awarded the prestigious JT Thwaites Sire of the Season award today by Jersey New Zealand at their annual AGM and Conference.
Bred by Alan and Vivienne Lockwood-Geck of Cambridge, Manzello is the third Jersey Genes™ bull (a joint venture between Jersey New Zealand and CRV Ambreed) to receive this award. Accordingly all three recipients still feature on the Jersey Ranking of Active Sires List (Animal Evaluation run 16.6.2012). With a Breeding Worth of 251/86, Manzello is currently the number two Jersey bull on the RAS list (and fifth on the All Breeds list). Part of the components of the award mean the recipient has to have at least 40 daughters in production over a minimum of 20 herds, a minimum of 20 daughters contributing to TOP information, a minimum 75% reliability and no less than -0.2 for Udder Overall, Dairy Conformation and Overall Opinion. Manzello was one of the first bulls to be released in a genomically selected scheme and has gone from strength to strength along his journey. Favourable comments on daughters milking in herds have been received around the country and progeny are now starting to filter through to the industry. He has been exported to nine countries and looks to make a positive global impact on breeding. Very warm congratulations to Alan, Vivienne and their family – Manzello is an asset to the industry. |
