Learn how to Attract 'Y' and Repel 'P'Dairy Women Learn How to Attract ‘Y’ and Repel ‘P’ Two of the hottest topics on the programme of this year’s Dairy Women’s Network annual conference are aimed at teaching women how to attract ‘Y’ and repel ‘ P.’ Recognised methamphetamine (‘P’) specialist and former police detective, Mike Sabin, will speak with women about how to recognise the signs of P use and manufacture on farm. While Sue Lindsay, winner of the World Young Business Achievers Award in Beijing and social researcher, will help attendees understand how to attract and manage the Y generation. The national conference is being held on May 12 and 13 at the Quality Hotel Plymouth International in New Plymouth. Dairy Women’s Network General Manager, Lynda Clark, says this year’s theme is about celebrating the many roles dairying women play. “Our conference theme this year, Dairying To Be You, honours the various hats our women wear every day, including farmer, strategist, mum, home maker, financial officer, community volunteer and more. “Dairying women are farmers, but they do so much more with our lives and this conference is about recognising that fact and paying tribute to these amazing women,” explains Ms Clark. The two-day conference is full of headliners, with other speakers confirmed including: Minister of Women’s Affairs the Hon Pansy Wong; world squash champion Dame Susan Devoy; public law expert and NZ Global Women Chair Mai Chen; and TV presenter Carol Hirschfield. Ms Clark says the breakfast on 13 May, which is open to the public, will be an extra special presentation. “For our breakfast speaker on 13 May, we have confirmed Mr John Harmon as our keynote speaker. He is Chair of the Breast Cancer Research Trust, an organisation whose mission is to cure breast cancer by 2018. He’ll be outlining different breast cancer treatments discovered so far and what the future holds for breast cancer research. “Newly appointed trust ambassador and TV presenter, Carol Hirschfield, will join Mr Harmon to share her personal experience supporting a friend through breast cancer. It should be a very enlightening and inspiring morning,” says Ms Clark. Women can now register online for the annual conference at www.dwn.co.nz or by phoning 07 838 5238.
