CRV Ambreed will be launching its new herd recording and management tool myHERD in June this year.

Sheryl Haitana talks with CRV IT manager Andrew Singers and the company’s herd testing manager Mark Redgate about the new tool and how herd testing data will be incorporated.

She is also joined by Waikato dairy farmer Marty Vickers who has been part of the farmer group testing myHERD. Marty will also be using CRV’s pregnancy testing through milk sampling next season.

Sheryl Haitana, Dairy Exporter

Sheryl Haitana is the Deputy Editor for the NZ Dairy Exporter magazine and the journalist for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regions.

Andrew Singers – IM/IT Manager

Andrew Singers has been IM/IT Manager Oceania for CRV Ambreed for nearly 6 years. Before joining CRV, he was CIO for RuralCo Holdings in Australia, which is a rural retail supply chain. Andrew also spent 10 years with Fonterra looking after the IT requirements of the Cooperative’s retail arm, RD1 (now FarmSource). Andrew is Hamilton born and bred and has a Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from The University of Waikato





Mark Redgate, Herd Testing Manager

Mark Redgate joined CRV Ambreed in August 2019 as National Herd Test Manager. He leads a team of 24 people to deliver comprehensive herd testing services to farmers across the country. Mark has spent his life in the dairy industry, both on and off the farm. He spent 20 years dairying before joining QCONZ as a milk quality specialist, where he worked for 10 years. Before joining CRV, Mark was Herd Test Manager for LIC looking after the South Waikato region.





Marty Vickers, dairy farmer, Waikato

Marty and Maggie Vickers milk 250 cows on 90 hectares in Ngahinapouri in the Waikato. They have been autumn calving since 2014 and have had a contract milker on board since 2015. The Vickers’ have a 500kgMS/day contract with Fonterra, with seasonal production of 130,000kgMS. Marty has been part of the farmer testing panel for myHERD and will be using CRV’s pregnancy testing through milk sampling service for the first time next season.
